Rev. Dr. Martin Hall
It is with tremendous joy and anticipation that I write this letter to introduce myself to the
people of the First Congregational Church. I have had the privilege of serving as a
Senior Minister in churches of the National Association of Congregational Christian
Churches (NACCC) for the past 12 years, and I am truly excited at the possibilities in
front of us in a shared ministry in Fall River.
Over the 20 years since my journey into (and in) ordained ministry began, I have had the
joy of being blessed with wonderful educational opportunities and experiences in
ministry. I received a Bachelor’s degree from the College of Wooster in Wooster, OH in
1996, a Master of Divinity Degree from Princeton Theological Seminary in Princeton, NJ
in 1999, and a Doctorate of Ministry Degree from McCormick Theological Seminary,
Chicago, IL in 2007. After a two-year internship at the Congregational Church of Bound
Brook, NJ, I was called to serve as the Pastor of Pine Hill Congregational Church in
West Bloomfield, MI, in 1999. I remained in that congregation until accepting a call to
the First Congregational Church of Clarkston, MI in April of 2005, where I continue to
serve until August 28 of 2011.
Throughout this time, I have had the opportunity to hold active roles in local clergy
groups and programs, as well as our wider Congregational fellowship. In addition to a
number of roles I have held in the NACCC, it is has been an honor to serve as co-
director of the Michigan Congregational Summer Camp, Treasurer of the Southeastern
Michigan Association of Congregational Churches, and Moderator of the Michigan
Conference of Congregational Christian Churches.
Beyond my work in Ministry, my passion in life is my family. My wife, Sharon (who works
as a Registered Nurse), and I have 3 children: Rebecca (‘Becca’) who is 6, Megan who
is 5, and James (‘Jay’) who is 2. Amidst the busyness of ministry and life, our family
has learned to treasure the time we have together. We love to travel as a family (we're
suckers for Disney World!), and have recently obtained a camping trailer that we have
only just begun to break in. Whether it is going out to eat, sitting at home for a family
movie night, or circling around the campfire roasting marshmallows, most often the
highlight of anything we do (as our children often say it) is the opportunity to 'be together
as a WHOLE family.'
Sharon and I have been extremely excited about the conversations that we have shared
with the Search Committee over the past 6 months, and are looking forward, with great
anticipation, to forming new relationships and building new ministries with the people
of the First Congregational Church of Fall River. We can’t wait!
In Faith and Fellowship,
