For nearly 100 years, everyone associated with the First Congregational Church has benefited from the vision and spirit of its major benefactress, Sarah S. Brayton. She provided a legacy in the building of this church that has been a home for those seeking comfort in times of personal loss; happiness in times of marital unions; promise in times of family baptisms; fellowship in social gatherings; and most of all, praise and joy for those who gather in worship.
However, the years have taken their toll on a church that fulfilled her dream and her desire that succeeding generations would preserve what she created. As faithful stewards of this beautiful building, it is our responsibility to respond to the need of our Property and Prudential committees in supporting the ongoing mission of our church into the future.
Simply put, the building is in need of immediate renovations that will guarantee the future role our church assumes with its membership and the community. It is imperative that everyone who has benefited from this church’s solemn place in one’ s life explore their conscience and feel the importance of perpetuating what Sarah Brayton so generously provided.
We invite you to familiarize yourself with the content of this presentation and prepare yourself to be a significant part of the church’s future plans for a continuing spiritual witness.
